Sheridan sits in the Tongue River Valley at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains, and few municipal courses in the American West enjoy a backdrop quite like this one. The Big Horns rise dramatically to the west, and on a clear Wyoming morning — which is most of them — the views from the fairways stretch toward peaks that top 13,000 feet. That setting alone makes a round here feel like something more than a trip to the local public course.
Kendrick Golf Course is Sheridan's community layout, open to residents and travelers alike, and it carries the unpretentious character that defines the best everyday public golf. The high-plains climate means a relatively short season, but the thin air and firm conditions typical of this elevation can translate into surprising distance and fast, rolling greens.
Sheridan itself is a genuine ranching and frontier town with a strong local culture, and the course reflects that — straightforward, welcoming, and rooted in its community. For anyone passing through northeastern Wyoming or heading into the Big Horn country, it's a natural stop.
