Chagrin Falls is one of those small Ohio towns that seems almost too picturesque to be real — a 19th-century mill town built around an actual waterfall on the Chagrin River, sitting in the rolling, wooded Chagrin Valley east of Cleveland. Country club golf took root in communities like this in the early 20th century, and Chagrin Valley Country Club carries that tradition of private, member-focused golf in a setting where the terrain does much of the design work. The valley's elevation changes, mature hardwoods, and seasonal character give the course a distinctly Midwestern feel — green and lush in summer, spectacular in fall color.
The par of 71 suggests a layout that doesn't lean entirely on length for its challenge, which is typical of clubs from an earlier era of design, where strategic placement and natural contours mattered more than raw yardage.
As a private members' club, the experience here is shaped by community as much as by the course itself — the kind of place where regulars know every break and every bounce, and where the game is played at a deliberate, unhurried pace.
