North/South

Orillia sits at the northern end of Lake Simcoe and the southern tip of Lake Couchiching, a waterfront city that has long served as a gateway to Ontario's cottage country. The surrounding Simcoe County landscape — Shield rock, mixed boreal forest, and the kind of rolling terrain that glaciers left behind — gives courses in this region a distinctly Canadian character, with tree-lined corridors and elevation changes that pure parkland designs further south rarely offer.

The name North/South suggests a layout that may thread between or alongside distinct topographical features, which is a common design logic in this part of Ontario where natural contours do much of the routing work for an architect. A par 71 hints at an asymmetric mix of par threes and fives, often a sign that a designer let the land dictate hole lengths rather than chasing a conventional card.

Orillia itself is a city with a genuine local golf culture — close enough to the GTA that serious players make the drive, but rooted in the everyday game that defines recreational golf across mid-Ontario.
