Pine Ridge Golf Centre sits on the edge of the Camberley heathland in Surrey, one of Britain's most storied golfing counties. This part of the world — bordered by Sunningdale, Wentworth, and Swinley Forest — has produced some of the finest heathland layouts in existence, and the sandy, free-draining soils and native heather that define the landscape give any course here a natural character that's difficult to manufacture elsewhere.
The heathland setting does most of the heavy lifting in terms of atmosphere. Expect the kind of terrain that rewards accurate driving and punishes lateral wandering — heather rough is unforgiving in a way that standard rough simply isn't, and mature pines lining the corridors create a sense of separation between holes that feels both scenic and strategically consequential.
As a golf centre rather than a private members' club, Pine Ridge is open and accessible, making it a practical entry point into genuine Surrey heathland golf for visiting players who might not hold invitations to the grander names nearby. The setting alone makes it worth the trip.
