Hatfield sits in Hertfordshire's commuter belt, close enough to London that the county has long supported a dense network of golf clubs — from heathland classics to parkland tracks laid out across the old estates that once defined this part of the home counties. The landscape here tends toward gentle, well-wooded terrain, and courses in the area often benefit from the mature tree cover and undulating ground that Hertfordshire parkland does particularly well.
A par of 73 is a mild curiosity — one over the standard 72 most modern courses target — suggesting either a genuine par-5 that designers refused to shorten, or a longer par-3 that earns its classification. It gives the card a slightly different rhythm than a typical parkland layout, and that extra stroke can flatter or frustrate depending on how the round unfolds.
Beyond that, the name "New" offers little to go on, and honest writing demands leaving the gaps unfilled. If this is a course you're considering, local knowledge and a site visit will tell you far more than any scorecard — or this description — can.
