Koasati Pines at Coushatta belongs to the Coushatta Casino Resort, the largest casino in Louisiana and one of the major destination draws in the southwestern part of the state. The course is the golf anchor of that resort complex, operated by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana on tribal land outside Kinder, a small town in Allen Parish roughly 50 miles east of Lake Charles. That context matters: this is a full resort experience, where the golf sits alongside hotel accommodations, spa facilities, and the casino floor, drawing players who are making a weekend of it rather than just squeezing in a quick round.
The terrain here is classic western Louisiana — low, flat pine-forested land in the Gulf Coastal Plain, where longleaf and loblolly pines define the corridors and the air carries that familiar Deep South humidity. The name Koasati honors the Coushatta people themselves, "Koasati" being their traditional name, and that connection to place runs through the entire property.
For golfers passing through this part of Louisiana, resort-quality layouts are not especially common, which makes this one a genuine regional destination worth the detour.
