There's a peculiar thrill to playing golf in the shadow of Hangar One — the colossal Art Deco dirigible hangar that still lords over the southern end of San Francisco Bay like something out of an alternate history. Moffett Field's golf course occupies federal land at the historic NASA research center and former naval air station of the same name, and that heritage gives the place an atmosphere no private club could manufacture.

The numbers suggest a course where positioning off the tee matters more than raw power, one that rewards the thoughtful player over the bomber.
The setting itself is pure South Bay: flat valley terrain with the Santa Cruz Mountains visible to the west and the salt marshes of the Bay within reach.
