Few golf clubs in England carry a history quite like Guildford Ladies' Golf Club, one of the oldest ladies' clubs in the country and a genuine piece of the game's heritage. Founded in the late Victorian era when women's golf in Britain was finding its feet, the club has maintained a proud identity rooted in the traditions of the Surrey heathland belt — that celebrated stretch of sandy, pine-fringed terrain that also gave the world Sunningdale, Worplesdon, and West Surrey. Playing here is less about conquering a course and more about stepping into a continuum of the women's game.
Surrey heathland golf has a character all its own: firm, fast turf, heather lining the fairways, silver birch and Scots pine framing nearly every hole, and a light, open sky above. The ground game matters here, and conditions reward thoughtful play over raw power.
As a members' club with deep roots in women's golf specifically, Guildford Ladies offers something increasingly rare — a place built by and for women players, where the culture of the game feels entirely its own.
