Few stretches of Scottish linksland feel as raw and elemental as the coastline around Fraserburgh, the fishing port that anchors the far northeastern tip of Aberdeenshire. This is the Buchan coast — windswept, salt-bitten, and bracingly honest — and Inverallochy Golf Club sits within it as a course shaped more by geography than by any architect's hand. The layout occupies the kind of ground that made golf in Scotland in the first place: tight, natural turf, land that rolls and tumbles on its own terms, and a wind that rarely takes a day off.
At par 67, this is a shorter test than the championship links of the northeast, but length is almost beside the point here. The wind off the North Sea can rewrite every club in your bag inside a single round, and the honest, unmanicured character of a traditional seaside club demands course management over power.
Inverallochy village and the neighboring town of St. Combs are among the oldest fishing communities in Scotland, and the club carries that same unpretentious, deeply local identity — golf here belongs to the people who live with this coast year-round.
